My Tutors and Fathers
By Daniel Oliveira   March 16th, 2010

“For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me.” (1 Corinthians 4:15–16, NASB95)

I woke up today thinking about how God has blessed me so much through specific relationships in my life. I’ve met countless people, and from every relationship God has taught me many things. They are like the tutors that this scripture talks about.

But I am really thankful for the spiritual fathers and mothers in my life—real examples of faith and life in God that I can imitate. I am particularly thankful for having Gary and Marilyn Hargrave, and Silas and Selma Esteves as my spiritual parents. With them, I am everyday learning to have more love and faith in God’s Words. Even though we may not have many fathers, I feel blessed because I have these that I can look up to. I thank the Lord for them!

“Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.” (Hebrews 13:7, NASB95)
