Pray Without Ceasing!

Recently at our Bible Study we went over a lesson on prayer and it is clear to see that when we study the scriptures, we understand the Father knows our needs before we ask Him. However, there is something about the daily time in prayer that leads us to practice His presence, bringing us closer to Him. Our time in prayer opens a door for a relationship with the Father. We may begin from a place of honesty and sincerity where we are telling the Father our need, but the ultimate result is closeness to Him.

Often we begin our prayers with worrying or fretting, but as the Holy Spirit guides us to pray and as the Father draws us into His presence, we reach a place of intimacy with Him. As we pray, we begin to shift our focus away from our circumstances and towards a complete trust in the Father. Our prayers become effective when we have come to the place where the Father abides in us. From that positioning there is no limit to what we can ask, but we have to ask in the will of God and for His glory. I have repeatedly heard my husband say “Praying is not giving God a “to do” list. Praying is daily partaking of the bread from heaven.” I couldn’t agree more.

I would like to end with Psalms 37:4-5 which was the memory verse of our Bible Study. Let’s be encouraged to pray faithfully and without ceasing and to give the Holy Spirit permission to change our hearts in the process.

“Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust also in Him, and He will do it.”
